Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
This operation has been around for a long time as the first stage of a planned two-stage surgery for high risk patients. With the success of the LAP-BAND surgeons began to use "the sleeve" as a stand alone procedure. Three year follow up data on now thousands of patients in centers around the world are very encouraging.
We feel it is now appropriate to offer it as an option for our patients. Like all surgeries, it is not an option for everyone and its unique features would have to be discussed. At this juncture very few insurance companies pay for "the sleeve" so almost all patients are paying out of pocket.
