The Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band
We are proud to announce the aquisition of a new, minimally invasive
surgical tool for the treatment of Morbid Obesity. The Laparoscopic
Adjustable Gastric Band (Lap Band) has been available outside the
United States since 1995 achieving encouraging results. Since recieving
FDA approval in 2000 it has proved itself in multiple centers across
the United States. Like any surgery for Morbid Obesity, it is only
a "tool" and therefore has it's own unique advantages
and disadvantages. It has, however,proved itself to be a durable
tool with much less surgical risk.
Since October 2003 Dr. Merriman has successfully performed well over 1000 LAP-BAND® procedures. The results have been dramatic with better than expected weight loss in most cases and almost no complications.
Dr. Merriman now offers the latest technology available: The Allergan AP LAP-BAND® and the Ethicon REALIZE Band®.
